Last weekend my little brother married the girl of his dreams! It was such an honour to help with some of the details of their big day! Kate & Jason planned an intimate cottage wedding, celebrating with their families and close friends on our parents beautiful lake side property here in the valley.
Along with all the stationery products, I volunteered to help with the chalkboard signs, not realizing how challenging it would be! I’m known to be a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to typography and layout, but I loved the challenge and don’t think they turned out half bad for my first attempt. At this point I amnot sure if it’s a service I want to offer for my business but I will keep practicing, you never know!
While I’m showing you these adorable invites, I want to chat a little how to set the tone of your event with your wedding stationery.
Kate and Jason didn’t want a traditional Church wedding, they are pretty laid back and they wanted their special day to represent their own styles. They planned a small outdoor ceremony, which allowed their invitations to be a bit more un-traditional. They also didn’t want to include their last names on the invitation, which is a look I personally love but I only suggest doing this for smaller weddings so your more distant guests know who they are receiving the invitation for (yes! this happens). This allowed me to be a bit more playful with the type style and layout because there wasn’t a lot of text details to add. The RSVP card and song request pulled their suite together to make it super fun . They LOVED getting the songs choices back in the mail, which made their DIY reception playlist a lot easier to create.
Are you planning a big Church ceremony? or a small outdoor celebration? There are a lot of things to consider in order to create the perfect invitation suite. Your event venue, style, theme/concept and colours also play a HUGE role. Plan these details out before deciding on your invitation style so they give your guest the right first impression of the type of celebration you have planned. In the end your entire stationery suite will end up more personalized and something you can cherish for years to come.
